365 Landmarks in the Land of Ideas
Participating in the contest “365 Landmarks in the Land of Ideas” the Island of Fehmarn was voted to be a “Selected Landmark of the Day” with the project: “Fehmarn: Hotspot for wind energy and migrating birds. Can they co-exist?”The consortium BioConsult-SH and ARSU GmbH on behalf of Fehmarn-Netz GmbH & Co. OHG has done an extensive study of the impacts of wind turbines on birds and bat migration on the Island of Fehmarn.
On August 19th the project was presented on a bicycle tour to the public. At 6 significant points various aspects of the project where presented by team members. In perfect weather conditions the tour took 3 hours and was enjoyed by all.
In the evening the award ceremony took place for invited guests. Major Otto-Uwe Schmiedt held the welcome speech and Mr Jacob (Executive manager of Deutsche Bank, Lübeck) handed over the award to the project partners. Afterwards, Dr. Marc Reichenbach and Thomas Grünkorn presented the results. During the evening the guests had the opportunity to discuss the project at the buffet.
