Environmental and regional economics

Some of the major challenges facing society today are of central importance in environmental and regional economics: climate change, the energy transition, adaptation to the impacts of climate change, climate and environment protection, sea and waterway pollution, the mobility transition, the transformation of the agricultural sector and technological advances. But however real these challenges may be, they are, for many, difficult to grasp in their full complexity and scope. We, in our turn, see it as our challenge to make these complex subjects accessible and tangible in a local and regional context in order to gain broad-based support for decisions of all kinds. We do this by encouraging all manner of organizations to leave the trodden path and go new ways in their analytical, planning and strategic activities. These include local government, research institutions, water supply and treatment companies, associations and interest groups, authorities, local amenity providers and disposal companies as well as private commercial enterprises. To this end, we create structures which can help to break down the ‚institutional blindness’ in closed organizations and chains of responsibility which can hinder new approaches and ideas. We do this by bringing residents, citizens and various interested parties together to promote learning and cooperative progress.

Our many years of experience in research and our practical expertise mean that we can offer a broad range of methodological approaches and solutions. Our specialist areas are:

  • research in the areas of environmental and regional economics
  • participation and support processes
  • development and strategy concepts
  • workshops, seminars and lectures
