Regional development and environmental Consultation Service

Since it was founded, ARSU has been active in the fields of regional and structural development. This is what the German acronym ARSU stands for – nomen est omen. Regional development is a planning tool which, clearly, impacts on a regional level. However, by targeting regional competitiveness and employment through the regional funding programs (EFRE, ESF, ELER and EFF), European structural development policy puts a strong emphasis on the local and regional level. Consequently, this dominates and directs policy-making at the communal and regional levels. The resulting increase in competitiveness between regions has lead to a rise in demand for consultation services such as regional management – nowadays an indispensable tool in regional development. This is where ARSU steps in, to provide communes and local government groupings in particular with coherent and interdisciplinary assistance and support across regions.

The standards required for public relations work and local citizens’ participation in planning and implementation processes have risen steadily - and more so as a result of the limitations on personal contact under the current pandemic. ARSU has always taken environmental education seriously: Now, more than ever, our expertise in explaining and presenting highly-complex scientific findings and planning procedures to a wider public has shown its worth.

Good public participation structures increase the levels of acceptance for and viability of complicated measures and processes. We attach great importance to this and it characterizes the ARSU approach.
